MUMBAI: The ‘Baraat ceremony’ is one of the most fun-filled traditions at any Indian wedding ceremony. A spruced-up groom sporting the traditional sehra makes a grand entry at the venue sitting on a horse led by his folks grooving to the tunes of popular songs while relatives from the girls’ side eagerly usher the ladkewaale in. Actor Nishant Singh Malkani who plays Akshat Jindal in Zee TV’s show Guddan Tumse Na Ho Paega dreams of having an extravagant wedding ceremony in real life as well. When it came to shooting the wedding track for the show, Nishant was looking forward to getting a firsthand experience of a big fat Indian wedding. But as luck would have it, they had to take a call to do away with the Baraat because it was not in sync with his on-screen personality.
While all the ceremonies for his reel wedding are in full swing, Nishant is a little miffed about not being able to enjoy the Baraat ceremony. He is not married in real life but has always dreamt of arriving at his marriage venue riding a Ghodi accompanied by a full-blown Band-Baaja. On the show, since Akshat’s character is very uptight, he couldn’t opt for a grand procession and instead, had to simply walk in without any pomp.
Commenting on this, Nishant said, “I have always wanted to have a grand wedding and when I was told that my character Akshat and Guddan are going to get married and there will be a grand ceremony, I was extremely happy. It felt like a dress rehearsal for my real-life wedding but I was disappointed when I got to know that because of Akshat’s stern demeanour, he will have a regular entry. But I am going to ensure that my wedding, whenever it will happen, will have a Band Baaja Baraat vibe with my close friends and family members dancing and enjoying the entire Baraat procession.”
